About:
The Longleaf Writers Conference at Seaside, Florida (previously Seaside Writers Conference), was established in 2012 by writers for writers, and occurs annually in the second week of May. This all takes place along the historic and beautiful scenic highway 30A, at a number of beautiful new buildings in the downtown area, which is right on the beach. The conference's core faculty members are Seth Tucker (fiction and poetry) and Matt Bondurant (novel, fiction, screenwriting), but they are joined each year by new faculty and visiting writers such as Rebecca Makkai, Tom Franklin, Beth Ann Fennelly, Chris Offutt, Anton DiSclafani, Antonya Nelson, Jacqueline Mitchard, Andre Dubus III, Jen Percy, Elizabeth Stuckey-French, and other incredible writers, agents, and editors each year for seminars, workshops, lectures, and readings. Please visit the conference website for the schedule.
The conference gives the public an opportunity to spend eight days attending intensive writing workshops, one-day seminars, school outreach programs, readings, and social events. This event raises awareness for creative writing and literature and is geared to writers of all levels. Participants will be able to take part in daily activities including beach bonfires, shrimp boils with visting writers, sunset receptions, etc.
