History of Loco Daze:

Early in 1965, a small committee of community residents met to put together a celebration of the history of Dilworth. Being a railroad town, the name of the celebration became Loco Daze. It was celebrated on August 14 & 15, 1965 and included a parade, beef barbecue, and water-fights between neighboring fire departments. It would be another 10 years before the next community festival was attempted, this time by the local Jaycee chapter.  Unfortunately, the Jaycee group dissolved and the festival was only held twice. In 1987, a group of citizens led by Bernice Miller, gathered up more resolve and laid the foundation for the present day Loco Daze community festival.  It has developed into a vibrant community celebration that brings back former residents and alumni.  Loco Daze is held at the end of July, with events held all over the city. Annual events include traditions such as the town parade, variety shows, 5K run, adult and youth dances, various bands, spaghetti feeds, bingo, and other musical acts.
