By Alice Childress
Directed by Melissa Maxwell
Following an African-American actress, Wiletta May, this play addresses racism in American theatre. May is cast in a said-to-be "progressive" play by a white male, but she quickly learns that his play is anything but. Focusing on the Broadway rehearsals, this play shines an important light on the sometimes racial intolerance of white directors and celebrates the strength of African-American women.
Approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes.
