Enjoy FREE cross-country skiing at Homestake Lodge during SNöFLINGA! Check in at the lodge before hitting the trails—no trail pass fees are required. Please bring your own equipment. Lunch and other treats will also be available at the lodge.

SNöFLINGA Skate Ski Lesson at Homestake Lodge

Come to Homestake Lodge for a free nordic skate ski lesson. Free equipment rentals and lessons will be available for use on our extensive trail system. Hearty soup and homemade rolls as well as cookies, hot drinks, beer, and wine will be available for purchase in the lodge.

Notice: Skate skiing is recommended for those with prior Nordic skiing experience. If you are new to cross-country skiing, please do not register for skate skiing lessons. Participants must be 12 years or older.

SNöFLINGA Frosty 5K Fun Run/Walk

LOCATION:
Start and Finish will be at The Original (443 N. Main Street Butte, MT 59701). There will be portable toilets available for 5K runners and walkers.

PARKING:
5K participants can park in the lot by the Original or on the street in designated parking spots.

TIME: The 5K will begin at The Original Mineyard at 10:00AM.  From there, runners will hop onto Woolman St for a few steps, and then onto the trail. The course will follow along the BSB trail toward the Mt. Con and up to the Granite Mountain Speculator Memorial (stop sign at the end of the trail) and back! It’s a straight out and back course (and straight up and down!). There will be warm beverages and cookies following the event.

Please familiarize yourself with the general course. We will have course marshals, signs, and chalk to mark the trail as clearly as possible on race day.

Race Registration Costs & Deadlines:

Registration will be available online until 8 PM January 30th, 2025;
We will also have in-person registration on January 31st, 2025 from 5:30PM – 8 PM at the High Altitude Skate Center (34 Olympic Way, Butte, MT 59701); and
THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

PACKET PICK UP:
Early Packet Pick-Up for Race & Onsite Registration: There will be TWO options for packet pick-up:

Friday, January 31th, 2025 from 5:30PM – 8PM at the High Altitude Skate Center (34 Olympic Way, Butte, MT 59701); and
Saturday, February 1st, 2025 (Race Day) from 8:00AM to 9:30AM.
DIVISIONS and PRIZES:
1st overall Male and Female, 1st youth Male and youth Female, and Best Zany Attire (Think whacky, bright, and wild!)

WEATHER AND CONDITIONS:
It’s January and it’s Montana…Please dress appropriately for the weather for the 5K and wear appropriate footwear. Butte Silver-Bow clears the trail as best as they can, but we cannot guarantee the trail will be free from ice, snow, etc. Please be mindful of the icy and slick spots that may occur. Do not sacrifice safety for speed!

SNöFLINGA Slow Flow Yoga

The Yoga Cooperative, 14 S Dakota St, Butte, MT 59701

A slow-paced yoga class that focuses on a calming and stretching experience creating an opportunity to de-stress and engage in some self-care.  A combination of two styles of Yoga: Hatha and Vinyasa, our certified yoga instructor will guide participants through gentle stretching and a little bit of strength building in order to build up just enough heat in the body.  After we build up some heat, we’ll come back down onto the floor and be guided through 2-3 Restorative Poses. Restorative Yoga is intended to be calming and relaxing, usually using a lot of props in order to fully support the practitioner.

Southwestern Polar Plunge benefitting Special Olympics Montana

The SouthWestern Polar Plunge is a premier Butte event that takes place in conjunction with the SnoFlinga Winter Festival so that plungers and spectators can enjoy all the festivities of the day! This plunge supports Special Olympics Montana athletes and teams in the Butte, Anaconda, Dillon and Deer Lodge regions.

The Polar Plunge is primarily organized, promoted, and conducted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Montana.

Stick and Puck + Open Skate with Optional Instruction

Try hockey for free! Half of the rink will be learning hockey, and the other half will be learning to ice skate with optional instruction. You’re welcome to bring your own skates & helmets. Ice skates and equipment will be available for those who do not have them. The concession will be open.

SNöFLINGA The Enchanting M

Kick-off The Enchanting M with a vibrant community circle dance, illuminated by your SnoFlinga flashlight lantern torches and accompanied by live West African rhythms from Butte’s own Michael McDaniel. IlluminDance is a celebration of dance, light, rhythm, and spectacle. The dancers and puppet of Illumindance Theatre may also make an appearance at the event. Feel free to bring your own lighted props or costuming to add to the magic, or join the workshop to make a free

Afterward, explore an immersive lighted loop below the M (see map below). The soft glow of trees adorned with string lights will guide you through the loop. We recommend footwear with good traction and/or Yaktrax for walking the full loop and additional light, depending on your preferences.

Please dress appropriately for Butte’s winter nighttime (think multiple layers of clothing and insulated boots!).
