It’s 1977, in Spain, where being gay is dangerous and illegal. The adorable and closeted Miguel is preparing for university entrance exams, mainly to please his loving and very traditional mother. But he yearns to be a singer and entertainer, which raises some eyebrows. As Miguel contemplates his future, he takes up with an eclectic gang of LGBTQ activists, led mainly by lesbians and transgender women. When the police start cracking down, Miguel’s mother is transformed into a surprisingly fierce crusader for LGBTQ rights. This is a smart, sassy, uplifting film for the entire LGBTQ community and our allies.
